    The Lubbock-Cooper girls basketball team traveled to Canyon for a two day shootout this weekend in the Canyon Tournament. The Lady Pirates defeated 2 very good teams to improve to 5-1 on the season. On Friday LCP upset #5 ranked Frisco Liberty 46-35 and on Saturday defeated Crowley 63-37.

    The Lubbock-Cooper football team will host a Bi-District playoff game for the second time in as many years. In 2016 LCP defeated Canyon High 48-34 on the way to going 3 rounds deep into the playoffs. The Pirates are 7-4 in the playoffs under head coach Max Kattwinkel who is in his 5th season leading the way.

Spread the word.  The first scrimmage of the season scheduled for October 28th has been changed to start at 3:30 p.m. A four team scrimmage including LCP, Canyon, Nazareth, and Frenship from the LCHS gym.

Both schools played hard however The Plainsmen were able to score late in the fourth quarter to put the final nail in the coffin. The Pirates will continue their hunt for the playoffs next week as they welcome in the Lake View Chiefs for the final game of the regular season.
