Highlights 
 
LCU opened play at the TexAnn Invitational, where they faced host Tarleton State University.  The match went five sets, which marked the first five-set match for either team this season. Despite 23 kills from LCU's Emily Hanaway, TSU received 37 kills from Haley Roberts. LCU was without kills leader Channing Castleberry, who also leads the conference in aces. The win was TSU's first over LCU since Nov. 4, 1994.
 
How It Happened
 
Set One
LCU was within a point at 17-16 before TSU closed the set on an 8-3 run. Autumn Taylor had three kills for TSU during that run.  Roberts had eight kills during the set. Hanaway produced three aces for LCU in the set.
 
Set Two
The Lady Chaps used an early 8-1 run for a 10-4 lead before an 11-4 run later built LCU's lead to 24-14. LCU won the set 25-19. Hanaway led LCU in the set with eight kills.
 
Set Three
The third set was tied as late as 18-18 before TSU rattled off five straight points for a 23-18 lead. LCU cut their deficit to 23-21, but TSU garnered the two points they needed for a 25-21 set win. It was all Roberts in the set, who pounded nine kills in the set.
 
Set Four
TSU trailed 20-14 in the set before rallying with an 8-2 run to tie the set at 22-22. The TexAnns served with set-point and match-point at 27-24, but LCU bounced back with three straight points to win the set 29-27. Hanaway posted nine kills in the set and Roberts led TSU with eight in the set.
 
Set Five
TSU led 13-8 in the fifth set, but LCU stormed back with four straight points to trail 13-12. The TexAnns would hold off LCU for a 15-13 set win. Roberts produced seven of TSU's 11 kills in the set.
 
Inside the Numbers:
 
23 – Hanaway's 23 kills was a career high. It was also the most by a Lady Chap since Channing Castleberry produce 25 on Sept. 16, 2014.
37/66 – Roberts tied her own school record with 37 kills and Jordyn Keamo contributed 66 assists, which is tied for the second most in TSU history. The kill mark was Roberts' sixth career 30-kill match and the 10th in TSU history.
89-63 – TSU had 89 digs compared to 63 by LCU.

It is a quick turnaround for LCU, who hits the court at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning in Stephenville to face Colorado Mesa.
