LCU BASEBALL: Baseball Signing Period Round-Up

LUBBOCK, Texas (November 12, 2016) – Wednesday marked the first day of the fall national signing period and the Lubbock Christian University baseball program received signatures from nine future LCU student-athletes.

Cade Acrey - C

Cade attends Lubbock Christian High School, where he is preparing for his third season on the varsity squad. The Eagles catcher has claimed First Team All-District and TAPPS All-State honors at LCHS.

Drew Austin - C

Junior college transfer Drew Austin will make his way to LCU from New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, N.M. He is originally from Jacksonville, Fla., where he was a four-year letterwinner at Mandarin High School. Also played quarterback at Mandarin.

Austin Baxter - RHP

Austin has been on the bump at Lubbock Cooper High School, lettering the past three seasons for Terry Baxter. His accolades have included LCHS Pitcher of the Year honors, All-District and TSWA All-State designation. Son of Lubbock Cooper Head Coach Terry Baxter.

Aaron Bly - SS

Aaron is a two-year letterwinner in the middle infield at Lubbock Christian High School. He has been honored with TAPPS All-State honors and was part of the All-Tournament team at the State Tournament.

Chandler Casey - RHP

Former Frenship High School product Casey is currently preparing for his sophomore season at Odessa College. Last season as a freshman, Casey made 23 appearances and made four starts. He went 5-4 and also recorded a save.  At Frenship, Casey was a two-time All-District selection, including Newcomer of the Year honors in 2012. He was also a two-time All-District selection in basketball and football, claiming Academic All-State honors in each sport. 

Kameron Deterding - RHP

Kameron is the younger brother of former LCU All-Conference volleyball player Kacey Deterding. He is currently aiming to letter in his third season at Frenship High School. The Academic All-District pitcher has also competed at the amateur level or Lubbock Baseball Academy, playing under Trent Petrie.

Conley Green - RHP

Green has lettered the past three seasons at Frenship High School, serving as a right-handed pitcher under head coach Chad Reynold’s squads. He also has competed in amateur baseball for Lubbock Baseball Academy, operated by former LCU baseball alum and Texas Tech assistant coach Trent Petrie.

Shandon Herrera - RHP

Three-year letterwinner preparing for his senior season at Odessa High. The right-handed pitcher was a All-District 3-6A selection as a utility player and has received pitcher of the year honors.

Skyler Nelson – C

Catcher Skyler Nelson is a native of Amarillo and has been a three-year letterwinner at Amarillo High. His junior season, he led the state in doubles and ranked second in RBI to claim All-State Honors (THSBCA and TSWA). Received All-District honors as a junior for on-field and academic performances.
