TEMPE, Ariz. – Jolan Cailleau of the Texas Tech men's tennis team was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Texas Region Most Improved Senior Player announced Monday by the national organization.
Cailleau, a 2017 All-Big 12 First-Team singles selection, is the first Texas Tech player to capture an ITA Texas Region honor since Gonzalo Escobar won the ITA Texas Region Arthur Ashe and Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Awards during the 2012 season.
Cailleau started his senior campaign at No. 95 in the ITA singles rankings and has vaulted his mark all the way up to a season-high No. 21 aided by five wins over fellow Top 30 opponents dating back to March 14. He will appear in the 64-player singles draw during next week's NCAA Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus.
