LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's golfers Sofia Garcia, Lauren Mason and Mami Yamamoto were recognized Wednesday afternoon as All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
Mason, who earned her Texas Tech degree this past spring, garnered the honor for the third-consecutive season while Yamamoto was honored for the second-straight year. Garcia, one of the top freshmen golfers in the country this past season, was recognized in her first season of eligibility.
In addition to its accomplishments on the links, Tech has found significant success in the classroom under head coach JoJo Robertson as multiple Lady Raiders have now been honored as WGCA All-American Scholars in each of the past seven seasons.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team requires a minimum cumulative 3.50 grade-point average, which ranks among the most stringent standards in college athletics.
The Lady Raiders, coming off their second NCAA Championships appearance in the past three years, begin the 2017-18 season in September. Tech's full slate will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
