LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech cross country hosted the Texas Tech Open this morning, taking finishes as high as third for the women and sixth for the men.
Newcomer Nokuthula Dlamini was the leader on the women's side with a time of 18:34.60 in the 5,000-meter run to claim her No. 3 finish. This marked her second performance as a Red Raider, taking her highest finish so far this year.
Close behind at No. 10 was Bret Leigh Nance with her 18:57.00 run, followed by teammates Lauren Offerman, Jasmine Torres, Kaylee Amershek and Arianna Lopez in the 12-15 spots.
Clark Blunt took the 8k lead for the men with his 26:09.50 run that allowed him the No. 6 finish. Teammates Ebenether Wondaferew, Joacim Zuniga, Stephen Alvarez, Michael Benoit, Shea Whatley and Riley Gonzales shadowed in the 8-13 spots.
Next week the Red Raiders will compete at the Texas Invitational in Round Rock, Texas, on Thursday, September 14.
