Cobb & Sendegeya Lead Charge at ITA Texas Regionals
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Jackson Cobb and Alex Sendegeya turned in a 4-0 record to fuel the Texas Tech men's tennis team on the opening day of the ITA Texas Regionals Friday at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center on the Texas A&M campus.
The Red Raiders have four singles players and one doubles pair remaining in the main draw along with two doubles teams and one singles player left in the consolation draw after Friday's action.
"Today it was a good first day overall," Texas Tech head coach Brett Masi said. "I saw some good things from each of the guys especially in our doubles. We need to use some of the things we learned from today and be ready for some battles tomorrow."
Cobb and Sendegeya collected two doubles wins to secure a spot in Saturday's quarterfinal round. The duo dismissed John Mee and Harrison Scott of Texas, the event's No. 5 seed, in a hard-fought 8-5 victory to start the day in the Round of 32. Then, Cobb and Sendegeya blitzed Lamar's Nicolas Mayr and Benny Schweizer with an 8-0 rout during the afternoon's Round of 16.
