PALM DESERT, Calif. – Texas Tech senior Gabriela Talaba moved into the Round of 16 in singles action after the second day of the ITA Fall National Championships Thursday in Palm Desert, California.
Talaba started the day off on a strong note and collected her second consecutive straight-set win of the event. She dismissed Georgia Tech’s Paige Hourigan by a 6-2, 6-3 score line and has dropped only a combined 13 games over her two victories. She will face Kate Fahey of Michigan in Friday’s Round of 16.
Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici edged Michigan duo Sara Daavettila and Alle Sanford in a tense super tiebreaker where the Lady Raiders ultimately came out on top 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6). The duo competes for a spot in the semifinals against Lindsey Hodge and Wendy Zhang of Rice.
