LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women’s golf coach JoJo Robertson announced Thursday the signing of Anna Dong to a National Letter of Intent to join the program for the 2018-19 season.

Dong, a native of China, currently attends Saint Joeseph High School in Lakewood, California, where she is one of the top amateur players in the country. Dong ranks 84th nationally in the latest Rolex American Junior Golf Association rankings as she is averaging 74.7 strokes per round.

“I am really excited to add Anna to our team,” Robertson said. “She is not only a great player, but she is a great person and will be a wonderful addition to our program. Anna works hard and has a great attitude. She will be fun to watch on the course.”

This year alone, Dong has been near the top of the leaderboard at several of the nation’s top junior tournaments. She finished third in early August at the Callaway Golf Junior Championship and then was fourth at the ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior Championship held in June.

Dong also recorded top-15 finishes at the AJGA Junior at Greenhorn Creek and the PING Heather Farr Classic. In addition, she paired with partner Rose Zhang to advance to the quarterfinal round of the USGA Women’s Amateur Four Ball Championship in late May.

Dong joins a Texas Tech women’s golf program that has found consistent success under Robertson with NCAA Regional appearances in seven of her eight seasons. Tech has advanced to the NCAA Championships in two of the last three seasons as well, the first of which ended with a fifth-place finish in 2015.
