LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech men's basketball team checks in at No. 10 in this week's Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches Top 25 polls released on Monday.
The Red Raiders (17-4, 5-3 Big 12) have been among the nation's Top 10 three times this season which trails only the 1995-96 team under James Dickey who was ranked inside the Top 10 on four occasions.
Texas Tech advanced four spots on the strength of wins over Oklahoma State and South Carolina. The Red Raiders overcome a 15-point second half deficit during the OSU game and were the only Big 12 road team to win during last weekend's Big 12/SEC Challenge at South Carolina.
The 17-4 record has matched the second-best start in program history through 21 games. This year's team joins the 1953-54 team under Polk Robison, the 1975-76 squad under Gerald Myers and the 2003-04 team under Bob Knight. The 1995-96 team under Dickey amassed a 30-1 start sparked by a program-record 23-game winning streak.
Texas Tech wraps up the first half of its Big 12 scheduled against Texas on Wednesday. Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m. CT from the United Supermarkets Arena. The game will be televised by ESPNU and available on the ESPN app.
Tickets to Wednesday's game can be purchased for as low as $15 online at www.TexasTech.com or at the United Supermarkets Arena Box Office which opens on gameday starting at 6 p.m. CT. Doors open to the USA at 6:30 p.m. CT.
