LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Women's Tennis team captured its third 4-0 sweep with a win over Arizona Friday afternoon.
Texas Tech (6-2) quickly took a 1-0 advantage over Arizona (7-3) after picking up wins on courts two and three in doubles play.
Doubles duo Felicity Maltby and Gabriela Talaba took down Arizona's Camila Wesbrooks and Talya Zandberg, 6-1, marking their seventh doubles victory of the season. Lana Rush and Alex Valenstein clinched the point with a 6-2 win on court three. The pair improved to 8-1 on the season.
In singles play, senior Sabrina Federici gave the Lady Raiders a 2-0 lead with her straight-set win on court three. She only gave up one game in the match and improved to 7-1 in spring action.
Lana Rush improved to 3-1 on court six after her 6-1, 6-2 victory over Arizona's Sophia Thomas.
Senior Gabriela Talaba clinched the match for the Lady Raiders with a 7-5, 6-0 win over Mary Lewis (Arizona) on court one. This was Talaba's first match clincher of the season.
The Lady Raiders continue their homestand on Sunday as they host NC State. First serve is set for noon.
