LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 17 Lady Raiders captured their ninth sweep win of the season with a 4-0 victory over TCU on Saturday.
With the win, Texas Tech improved 13-4 on the year, 2-1 in Big 12 play. TCU fell to 9-8, 0-2 in league play.
Alex Valenstein and Lana Rush gave the Lady Raiders a head start with a 6-0 win on court three. No. 68 Felicity Maltby and Gabriela Talaba clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory on court two.
Valenstein pushed Tech ahead 2-0 with her straight-set win (6-0, 6-2) over Meredith Roberts on court five.
Gabriela Talaba and Sarah Dvorak won each match within seconds of each other, completing the sweep over TCU. Talaba gave up just three games with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over No. 84 Aleksandra Zenovka. Dvorak clinched the match on court four as she defeated Stevie Kennedy in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).
The Lady Raiders wrap up their home slate next weekend. Tech will travel to Baylor on Friday and host Texas on Sunday.
