LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Track & Field is set for the Big 12 Outdoor Championship this weekend at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium in Waco, Texas, this weekend.

Competition begins on Friday with the start of the men’s decathlon at 11 a.m. followed by the women’s heptathlon at 11:30 a.m.

Earlier this year, the Red Raider men’s team captured the program’s first-ever Big 12 Indoor Championship. Texas Tech outscored the field by 14 points to earn the title over Texas.

The men’s team enters the weekend as the No. 2 team in the country. The Red Raiders lead the Big 12 in eight events and hold the top two marks in the 800m and the long jump.

Charles Brown and Odaine Lewis own the top two marks in the men’s long jump in the Big 12 and the West Region. In the men’s 800m, Vincent Crisp and CJ Jones top the league and rank in the top 10 regionally.

On the women’s side, Zarriea Willis and Cyre Virgo own the top two marks in the women’s high jump compared to other Big 12 athletes. Willis’ mark is No. 2 in the West Region.

Sophomore Crystal Onwukaife ranks second among Big 12 opponents in the women’s shot put after she threw a new personal best mark last weekend.

Junior Kaylee Hinton sits in second in the women’s heptathlon against her Big 12 opponents. She scored 5,585 points earlier this season, placing her in the top 10 regionally.
