LUBBOCK, Texas – Senior high jumper Trey Culver became the first Red Raider in Track & Field program history to be named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District First Team, selected by CoSIDA.
Culver is one of 10 student-athletes selected to the District 7 team. The Lubbock, Texas, native was also one of four Big 12 student-athletes to be named to the list.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in March.
To be nominated, a player must be at least a sophomore, have a 3.30 cumulative GPA and participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
Culver is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Sports Management. He graduated in December with a degree in psychology.
Last year, Culver was named the USTFCCCA Scholar Athlete of the Year and has been on the Academic All-Big 12 team the last two seasons.
The Red Raiders head to the NCAA National Championship in Eugene, Ore., next weekend. Culver looks for his first NCAA Outdoor High Jump title in his fourth trip to Eugene.
