LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech senior Lauren Mason headlined Texas Tech's three selections this week to the All-American Scholars list that was announced by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).
Mason, who was joined by teammates Mami Yamamoto and Amy Taylor, was recognized for the fourth-consecutive season, while Yamamoto was honored for the third-straight year. It marked the first career academic honor for Taylor.
This is the eighth-consecutive year Tech has been represented by multiple golfers being named to the All-American Scholar Team. Mason and Yamamoto were also recognized for their work in the classroom earlier this past season on the Academic All-Big 12 first team.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team requires a minimum cumulative 3.50 grade-point average, which ranks among the most stringent standards in college athletics. The WGCA honored 1,011 women's golfers across all levels of collegiate golf.
Yamamoto and Taylor will both be back with the Red Raiders this fall when Tech opens the 2018-19 season in September. Tech's full schedule will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
