Got a question for the Double T 97-3 staff, get it to us HERE.
This week the Double T 97-3 staff answer, "What is your biggest take away from the Matt Wells Press Conference?"
Jamie Lent - The Morning Drive and Pres Box
The think the comment I enjoyed the most was when he said "reload and not rebuild". That gives me hope that this program can get back to playing in a bowl game in 2019. No, its not a huge jump but I sure would feel like it is a step in the right direction. From there we can hope for bigger things in 2020 and beyond.
Zach Logsdon - The Morning Drive and End of the Bench
My biggest takeaway is definitely how intense he seems. We talk a lot about the opposite theory in reference to offensive mind to defensive mind or play caller to CEO, but this is an opposite theory in intensity as far as I can tell. I don't remember exactly what it was Wells was saying Saturday but he was staring down the camera and all the sudden I looked down and had shoulder pads on. He's definitely going to be a motivator if nothing else. Also, David Yost's hair.
Jeff McGuire - The End of the Bench and Bottom Line
There were a lot of things I really liked hearing on Saturday. The tight end position is one of my favorite in football. The hybrid between a lineman for the run game and receiver in the passing game is really appealing to me. I like the fact that he is the big picture guy and trusts his staff to run the offense and defense. Will all of this pan out in year one, maybe. I expect more of a jump in year two. Either way, I am excited to see where he takes the program.
Chois Woodman - The Bottom Line
My biggest takeaway was the passion that Coach Wells displayed. It was easy to see that Wells will put everything he has into this football team. He seemed very real, while saying the right things and bringing plenty of energy. Coach Wells is a change of pace from the previous regime, and I welcome a change when what you were doing wasn't working. Ultimately, none of it matters if wins don't come. But I thought Wells started off on a good foot by hitting a home run in the press conference.
Zach Sparkman - The Press Box and Tech Talk
He’s growing on me he seems like a leader and says all the right things with a genuineness that one silver haired coach in the past didn’t have. Most importantly I think he has a plan that has a similar feel to Chris Beards process that he talks about so after hearing him speak I get the feeling Kirby Hocutt was talking about when announcing the hire.
Garrett Luft - Coors Light Post Game Show
Alright! He really got me fired up, alright? I think we are going to be all right, alright? Alright!
Gary Ashby - Sports Talk w/ Thetford and Ashby
Matt seems like a great guy that really wants to be at Texas Tech!!! That’s a good start as far as I’m concerned.
