2018 2018

Got a question for the Double T 97-3 staff, get it to us HERE.

In part one of two, this week we answer "What were your favorite and least favorite moment of the 2018 sports world?"

Chuck Heinz - The Morning Drive

Going to Omaha and experiencing that environment and watching a Red Raider win.

The disappointment was the two losses at home to Oklahoma and UT. Two winnable games that got away from them.

Jamie Lent - The Morning Drive and Press Box

The highlight for me would be the Texas Tech Baseball team defeating Florida to start their run in Omaha. That was the first time in three tries for Tech to win their opener in the CWS and you hoped it would lead to great things. Unfortunately that was not the case. Still it was a great moment and a step in the right direction for the Red Raider Baseball team.

The least favorite moment for me was the loss in Arlington to Baylor for the Texas Tech Football team. It felt very apparent at that point that Kliff Kingsbury and his staff would be let go and that was very disappointing to me.  Plus you wouldn't be going to a bowl game and the hated Bears would. What a terrible memory.

Zach Logsdon - The Morning Drive and End of the Bench

Favorites: John McMillon coming in cold in the Supers and shutting the door. Thunder huge comeback win over the Jazz in the playoffs. OSU over Texas/WVU (sorry everyone). Luka-mania. Chiefs-Rams. Minnesota Miracle (Keenum to Diggs to beat the Saints). Villanova going nuclear on KU in the final four. Tech vs. KU crowd Swag Surf.

Least Favorite: Golden State again (again). Trae Young-mania. The Mavs FO scandal. Texas getting good at football again. Alan Bowman's collapsed lung. Alan Bowman's second collapsed lung. OSU's performances against Tech, K-State and TCU (congrats everyone). Virginia getting beat by UMBC leading to one of the worst brackets in March Madness history. OU winning another Big 12 title and another Heisman and possibly a CFP semifinal before the year's over.

Pretty solid year overall. Just don't like OU and Golden State very much.

Jeff McGuire - End of the Bench and Bottom Line

Favorite moment has to be the win at Kansas for the Red Raider hoops team.  The win over Florida in the CWS is a close second.  Teams just don't go into KU and win in basketball that often and you are one of the teams that has now.

Worst moment has to injury to Alan Bowman that leads to a lot of the problems or the football team the rest of the way.  If he didn't get hurt, is Tech in a bowl game, are they in a great bowl game, and is Kingsbury the head coach?  That one moment had ripple effect for more people then we may ever know.

Chois Woodman - The Bottom Line

Favorite moment:

The Texas Tech basketball team made it to the Elite Eight round of the NCAA tournament. I got to experience something completely new in my sports fandom, so that shoots to the top of the list.

Least Favorite moment:

Texas Tech losing to Kansas State in football and going on to miss a bowl game. This is definitely the least favorite moment(s) of 2018 for me because it lead to a coaching change. I am very hopeful that Matt Wells and co. can get it done for Tech football in the future, but it was sad to see Kliff Kingsbury go. I was really hoping for Kingsbury to have success and be the coach of the future.

Zach Sparkman - Press Box and Tech Talk

For Favorite I will say Tech basketballs run to the Elite 8 with the teams win in Allen Field House edging out the Baseball teams run to Omaha

For least favorite I’ll go with Alan Bowman’s second lung injury against OU costing the team a chance to knock off the Sooners and subsequently Texas and a possible 7-5 8-4 season.

Garrett Luft - Coors Light Post Game Show

My favorite moment is a tie between the wins over Florida in Omaha (baseball) and Dallas (basketball). I know the Purdue win was “bigger,” but the electricity in the moment at the American Airlines Center as Tech won to get into the Sweet 16 was incredible.

The worst sports moment was the entirety of the Tech football game in Manhattan. Brutal.

Geoff Haxton - Voice of Red Raider Basketball and Baseball

My favorite moments are Texas Tech over SFA, Florida and Purdue. I'll probably tell my grandkids about that ride.

Baseball had so many moments. I begin with the sweep of Oklahoma State. The birth of Du-Shetter happened there and turned the season. The Red Raiders roll through the regional and pop Duke to go to Omaha. I'd been trying to get there for the longest time. To see it happen was incredible.

Watching my son play his first seasons of baseball are my most fond moments. His first at bat he hit an inside the park homerun. The joy I get watching him is through the roof.

My worst would be watching Red Raider football fall apart down the stretch. What appeared to be a good season got swallowed up. Here's to new beginnings.

Luke Lyles - Producer Extraordinaire

Texas Tech men’s basketball team making a run in the NCAA Tournament was a major highlight on the year. Pat Mahomes putting up video game like numbers every week this season has been another. Most of all, the Dallas Mavericks trading up in the draft to land the great Luka Doncic and the great start to the season he has had.

My only “Least Favorite” moment was the Tech Football team going on a 5 game losing streak to end the season and not make a bowl.
