Texas Tech's first loss of the season came at the world's most famous basketball arena, a sold-out Madison Square Garden. (2)Duke took down (12)Texas Tech 69-58 Thursday.

Tech found itself in an 8-0 hole quickly to begin the game, but battled back and led through much of the first and second halves. Duke pulled away with about six minutes remaining, finishing on a 16-5 run.

Jarrett Culver led the Red Raiders with 25 points. He was the team's only player in double digits.

Freshman standout Zion Williamson led the Blue Devils with 17, but fouled out with 3:51 left.

Tech's defense proved strong, entering the game with the lowest opponent field goal percentage. Duke was held to 25 points below its season average of 94 points per game. Both squads were sloppy with the ball, Tech turned the ball over 24 times, Duke 19.

Texas Tech (10-1) next hosts UT Rio Grande Valley Dec. 28. Then conference play begins, at West Virginia Jan. 2.
