LUBBOCK, Texas – Coming off its most successful season under head coach Adrian Gregory, Texas Tech softball has been ranked No. 38 by College Sports Madness in their 2019 preseason Top 44 Countdown, the publication announced Tuesday.
One of the youngest teams in the nation last year, Tech posted its first 30-win season of the Gregory era and returns eight out of nine position starters from 2018, including All-American Jessica Hartwell, who set a school record with 20 home runs. The Red Raiders also return their top pitcher from a year ago in sophomore Erin Edmoundson, who finished her freshman campaign 17-12 with a 2.97 ERA.
Gregory will also welcome nine new faces for the 2019 season, including Division I transfers Trenity Edwards (Missouri), Missy Zoch (DePaul) and Shelby Henderson (Louisiana-Lafayette). Six talented freshmen will enter the fold as the Red Raiders look to build on their NISC appearance last season.
