LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Texas Tech Women's Basketball squad captured a 75-71 win over Kansas on Sunday afternoon to earn the first Big 12 sweep in three seasons.
The Lady Raiders improved to 12-13 on the season, 3-11 in Big 12 play. Tech has won two games on the road this season, marking the first time the Lady Raiders had two road wins in a single season since the 2014-15 season.
Texas Tech started out slow in the first quarter, giving up an 18-10 lead.
The Lady Raiders outscored the Jayhawks, 27-20, in the second quarter, hitting four straight three-pointers to end the quarter. The hot streak started with a three-pointer from Eryka Sidney with 1:39 left on the clock. Freshman Chrislyn Carr scored the second three just before junior Brittany Brewer hit back-to-back threes, including one at the buzzer to pull within one heading into the half.
Brewer knocked down her third three-pointer of the day, pushing the Lady Raiders ahead for the first time in the game. The Lady Raiders extended their lead with a 20-11 third quarter, taking a 57-49 lead into the final period.
The Jayhawks didn't give in as they tied the game two more times throughout the fourth quarter.
With 46 seconds on the clock, tied at 71-71, the Jayhawks were forced to foul. Sophomores Angel Hayden and Sydney Goodson knocked down two crucial free throws to give Tech a two-point lead with 25 seconds to play.
Brewer snagged a steal on a Kansas in-bounds play, forcing another foul by the Jayhawks. Hayden knocked another free throw just before Goodson forced another turnover and hit a free throw to seal the four-point win.
Texas Tech: The Lady Raiders have four players in double figures for the 10th time this season. Brittany Brewer led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds for her 12th double double of the season. Erin DeGrate followed with 16 points of her own. Angel Hayden and Sydney Goodson both add 12 points to the Lady Raiders total. Senior Zuri Sanders also had 10 rebounds for the Lady Raiders.
Kansas: The Jayhawks had three players in double figures, led by Kylee Kopatich who had 19 points, five assists and a steal. Brooklyn Mitchell followed with 12 points while Austin Richardson had 10 points and nine rebounds in the contest.

The Lady Raiders outrebounded the Jayhawks, 44-42, marking the 19th time this season that the Lady Raiders led the rebounding margin this season. Tech is 12-7 when leading the rebounding margin.
The Lady Raiders forced 22 turnovers by Kansas, the most forced by Texas Tech this season. It was also the second time this season that the Lady Raiders have forced 20+ turnovers.
The Lady Raiders had four athletes in double figures. It was the 10th time this season that Tech has had 4+ players in double figures. Tech is 8-2 with four or more athletes in double figures.
Sophomore guard Angel Hayden scored 12 points, six rebounds, two steals and three assists in the game. Hayden's 12 points marked her fifth double-digit point game of the season and her career. Hayden knocked down six of her eight FTs in the final period.
Junior forward Brittany Brewer led the team with 20 points and 10 rebounds for her 12th double double of the season and 15th of her career. The game also marked her eighth 20+ point game of the season, 10th of her career. With 10 rebounds, Brewer has recorded 10+ rebounds in 14 games this season and 19 in her career. Brewer was 4-for-5 from beyond the arc and had three blocks and two steals on the day.
Junior Center Erin DeGrate recorded 16 points and seven rebounds against the Jayhawks. She also added two assists, a block and a steal. DeGrate's 16 points marked her 11th double digit point game of the season and 21th of her career.
Sophomore guard Sydney Goodson recorded 12 points and four rebounds and two steals in the contest. Goodson's 12 points is her fifth double-digit point game of the season. Goodson has extended her double-digit scoring streak to seven games.
Senior forward Zuri Sanders recorded 10 rebounds for her 14th double-digit rebound game of the season and 19th of her career.
The Lady Raiders have a bye week before returning to action next Saturday, Feb. 23. Texas Tech will face No. 15 Texas in Austin for an 11 a.m. tip on the Longhorn Network.
