AUSTIN – The Lady Raiders' late rally in the second half wasn't enough to overcome the Longhorns' lead as Texas Tech fell, 81-57, on Saturday.
With the loss, the Lady Raiders drop to 12-14 on the season, 3-12 in Big 12 play.
It was a rocky start for the Lady Raiders, as Texas outscored Tech 21-6 in the opening quarter. The Longhorns stretched their lead to 40-17 at the half.
The Lady Raiders opened the third quarter with a 10-2 run, cutting into the Longhorns lead. Chrislyn Carr, Sydney Goodson and Eryka Sidney combined for four three-pointers, pulling within 12.
But the Longhorns charged back and took the win.
Texas Tech: In just 28 minutes of action, Chrislyn Carr scored a team-leading 19 points, 11 coming in the third quarter. Brittany Brewer followed with 13 points, three steals and two blocks.
Texas: The Longhorns has three players in double figures, led by Joyner Holmes who scored 20 points and had six rebounds. Danni Williams followed with 16 points while Audrey Warren scored 14 for the Longhorns.

This was the 102nd meeting between Texas Tech and Texas. The Lady Raiders trail 29-73 all-time vs. the Longhorns.
The Lady Raiders posted their best performance from the charity stripe, hitting all by one (9-10). The last time the Lady Raiders shot 90 percent or better from the FT line was on Jan. 4, 2017 vs. Iowa State. The Lady Raiders went 25-of-26 (.962).
Freshman point guard Chrislyn Carr led the team with 19 points in just 28 minutes of play against the Longhorns. 11 of her 19 points came in the third quarter alone. The game marked her 23rd double-digit point game of the season. Carr has scored 19+ points in 15 of the 26 games played. With a 3-for-3 day at the charity stripe, Chrislyn Carr has made 33 of her last 37 FTs attempted (.891)
Junior forward Brittany Brewer scored 13 points for her 21st double-digit point game of the season and 40th of her career. Brewer also had three steals against the Longhorns, tying a career high.
Junior guard Eryka Sidney record two three-pointers, tying a season best in 3-pt made. She also had two assists and her first block of the season in the contest.
The Lady Raiders return to United Supermarkets Arena on Tuesday to host No. 20/22 Iowa State. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. on FOX Sports Southwest.
