THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Texas Tech women’s golf team finished in 9th place at the 2019 Icon Invitational after shooting a combined score of 894 after three rounds of play.
The Red Raiders were led by sophomore Sofia Garcia and freshman Cecilie Nielsen who both shot 6-over 222 to finish in a tie for 24th place on the individual leaderboard. The t-24 finish for Nielsen is a career best, while her score of 6-over is her second lowest posting.
Tech has now placed at least two players in the top-25 in both events to begin the spring season.
Louisa Brunt also found her way on Tech’s scoring sheet, as she completed her tournament with a score of 10-over, placing her in a tie for 43rd. Freshman Anna Dong became the fourth and final tally for the Red Raiders at 12-over. Senior Mami Yamamoto would close out play on Tuesday at 19-over.
The Red Raiders will return to action on Monday, March 11th at the BYU Invitational in St. George, Utah.
