Texas Rangers Announce Globe Life Field Materials and Renderings Release

Arlington, Texas—The Texas Rangers held a media event for the new Globe Life Field this morning on the construction site.

Here is a summary of today’s announcements:

BALLPARK MATERIALS AND RELEASE OF NEW RENDERINGS: Bryan Trubey, executive vice president of HKS and the principal designer of Globe Life Field, presented a discussion of the materials being used in the construction of both exterior and interior elements of Globe Life Park. Trubey and the HKS design team have incorporated a number of different materials, the majority of which are being produced in Texas, that reflect the elements of form and structure, transparency, and landscape.

Materials from Texas being utilized include:

Steel – Irwin Steel – Justin, Texas

Curtainwall System – OldCastle – Alba, Texas

Masonry Veneer – ACME – Denison, Texas

Precast Walls – Enterprise – Corsicana, Texas

Limestone – Mezger – Lampasas, Texas

In addition, the following materials are also being utilized:

Granite – Coldspring - Cold Spring, Minnesota

Three Layer ETFE – Vector-Foiltec - Germany

All Metal Panels – Centria - Sheridan, Arkansas

Insulated Translucent Panels – CPI Daylighting - Lake Forest, Illinois

The Rangers and HKS also released a series of new renderings that depict the East, Southeast, and West exteriors of Globe Life Field as well interior views from the upper left field concourse, right field, and the field level suites, which are located directly behind home plate.

ACME BRICK ANNOUNCEMENT: Dennis Knautz, President and CEO of Acme Brick and Rob Matwick, Executive Vice President of Ballpark Operations for the Texas Rangers announced a partnership in which Acme Brick is the official brick of the Rangers and Globe Life Field. Since 1891, Acme Brick Company has been manufacturing superior-quality brick for homes and businesses in North Texas. From a single plant in western Parker County, Acme has grown to a network of 15 brick plants and 60+ company-owned sales locations across 13 states. The “Champion Red” Acme Brick to be used on Globe Life Field are from Acme’s Denton Plant, near I-35E and U.S. 377. This facility also supplied the exterior of the Rangers’ current home, Globe Life Park.


WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION WEEK: John Reyhan, President of Manhattan Construction, detailed Manhattan’s recognition of Women in Construction Week, which is March 4-8. Manhattan created a special hard hat sticker for all workers on the Globe Life Field site.

The official groundbreaking for Globe Life Field took place on September 28, 2017 with construction beginning the following week. The new 1.7 million square foot ballpark, which will be located on 13 acres just south of the current Globe Life Park in Arlington, will include a retractable roof for climate control and shelter for fans during the hot summer months. Seating capacity is approximately 40,000 for Globe Life Field, which will open in March 2020. HKS is the design architect for the project and Manhattan Construction Company is the Construction Manager.
