LUBBOCK, Texas (July 16, 2015) – One final step remains, as Lubbock Christian University strives for full membership in NCAA Division II. LCU President Tim Perrin received official word Thursday afternoon, from the NCAA Division II Membership Committee, that LCU has been recommended for full NCAA Division II membership. The final remaining step is an approval of the Membership Committee’s recommendation by the NCAA Division II Management Council at their July 27-28 scheduled meeting.

LCU is in the process of completing a successful Provisional Year, which followed a pair of Candidacy Years beginning the 2012-2013 school term. If the Management Council approves LCU, the Chaparrals and Lady Chaparrals will become full NCAA Division II members effective Sept. 1 and all 11 varsity programs will be eligible for Heartland Conference and NCAA postseason play effective for the upcoming 2015-2016 season. Lubbock Christian spent the past two seasons competing as transitional members in the Heartland Conference and looks to join Oklahoma Christian as full members this upcoming season.

Pending the Management Council’s decision, an on-campus press conference will be conducted to celebrate one of the biggest milestones in the department’s and university’s history. Additional information on the press conference will be announced at a later time.
