Lady Raiders

LUBBOCK, Texas – With the brackets for the 2021 Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament officially set, the No. 7 seed Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball

team will take on 10th-seeded Kansas State in the first round of the tournament on Thursday at 8 p.m., at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The game will be streamed live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

In head coach Krista Gerlich's first season at the helm of the program, the Lady Raiders finished the Big 12 season in seventh in the conference standings. It marks the highest conference finish for a first-year Lady Raider head coach in the Big 12 era.

Texas Tech and the Wildcats split their two games this season, with the home team winning each meeting. Vivian Gray scored 28 points, while Khadija Faye had 20 points and 14 boards in the home contest, helping Tech come back from down 13 in the fourth quarter to eventually win the game in overtime. In Manhattan last month, Najé Murray hit eight threes on the way to a 28-point night that almost pushed the Lady Raiders over the top to the win.

Among the highlights for the Lady Raiders this season were the team's win over No. 21 Texas—Tech's first win over the Longhorns since 2013—a comeback overtime win over Kansas State for the program's first win over the Wildcats in five years, a conference sweep of Kansas, and a come-from-behind win over TCU in Lubbock for Krista Gerlich's first Big 12 win as Texas Tech head coach.
