Texas Tech soccer

For the third straight season, Texas Tech will post a conference-leading number of selections on the Academic All-Big 12 team. Wednesday's announcement of 131 honorees included 15 from the Red Raiders.

Four Red Raiders – Hannah AndersonJen RoseCharlotte Teeter and Madison White – posted perfect 4.00 grade-point averages.

Fifteen selections makes it nine straight years head coach Tom Stone's team has had its Academic All-Big 12 selections reach double digits. In his time at Tech, Stone has seen 163 Red Raiders make teams.

"I would love to say that we created this culture of academic excellence," said Stone. "But to be fair, the commitment to be great in the classroom was here when I arrived in 2007. It's been important to us from year one to continue to recruit the best student-athletes possible who care about their careers outside of soccer just as much as they love the game. It's college after all, and we are fortunate to be around such talented athletes and committed students each and every day."

First Team honorees achieved a GPA of 3.20 or higher, while Second Team members held a GPA between 3.00-3.19. In addition to holding a GPA in one of the above ranges, a student-athlete must have competed in at least 20 percent of the team's contests throughout the season to be eligible, or in the case of seniors, have done so over the last two years.
