THIS MORNING: It's a mild start, 70s across most of the area. The temperature has been around 80 here in Lubbock. There have been a few showers and thunderstorms across the northeastern part of our area. By 6am most of these had diminished, though Parmer County was still picking up some rain.

The heaviest rain probably missed rain gauges, since these storms were so small. Here are top totals on the Texas Tech Mesonet through 6:40 a.m.:

Friona 0.54"
Palo Duro Canyon 0.40"
Morton 0.16"
Plains 0.10"
Hart 0.04"

TODAY: It'll be plenty warm again today, high near 96 in Lubbock, wind S-SE 5-15mph. Like yesterday, a few isolated storms are possible. While most of us will miss out...if you get a storm it'll bring some gusty wind and brief, heavy rain. Here is the area forecast:

NEXT FEW DAYS: We again could see a few late-day storms tomorrow, but it's a low chance. The high temp will drop by a few degrees mid-week, but nothing drastic. There again could be a few more storms by the weekend. The big upper-level high pressure dome doesn't move too far away over the next week, so no big changes in this pattern.

Have a great day. Rudy will update this outlook here later today. Thanks to Christopher for filling in while I was on vacation last week.
