UPDATE: Police searching for suspect in deadly hit-and-run crash, victim identified
(LUBBOCK, TX) – The female pedestrian killed in Tuesday night's hit and run crash has been identified as Gloria Valdez, 52.
Early this morning, Lubbock Police Department major crash investigators began searching several areas for the suspect vehicle.
Just before 9 a.m., investigators located a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban believed to be the suspect vehicle. The Suburban was parked in the parking lot of Motel 6 near 66th street and Ave. J and was impounded.
This crash remains under investigation by the LPD Major Crash Investigation Unit.

Lubbock Police Department investigators are searching for the suspect in last night’s fatal hit and run.
Just after 11 p.m. on May 14th, Lubbock police officers responded to the area of Avenue Q and 27th Street for reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle that fled the area. The female pedestrian, who has not been identified at this time, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Through the initial investigation, it appears the suspect was traveling northbound on Avenue Q and struck the pedestrian attempting to cross the street with her bicycle and dog. The dog was also killed in the crash.
