Tech Softball: Six Red Raiders garner scholar-athlete status
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Showing their dedication to the classroom, six student-athletes from the Texas Tech softball team were honored as 2019 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athletes, announced by the organization on Wednesday, Oct. 2.
Peyton Blythe, Erin Edmoundson, Karli Hamilton, Shelby Henderson, Miranda Padilla and Yvonne Whaley represented the Red Raiders after finishing the 2018-19 school year with a 3.5 GPA or higher. A total of 1,769 student-athletes were recognized on the NCAA Division I list.
Blythe led the Red Raiders with a spotless 4.00 GPA and Henderson posted a 3.77 GPA in her first year with the program. Padilla followed Henderson with a 3.67 GPA and Whaley trailed closely with a 3.63 mark. Lastly, Edmoundson and Hamilton both finished their academic years with a 3.60 GPA.
