LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team fell to No. 7 Baylor, 82-50, on Wednesday night at United Supermarkets Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Tech was led in scoring by Vivian Gray, who surpassed the 2,000-point mark for her career, including DI and DII. Gray had 12 points, six rebounds, an assist and two steals on the night. Five players finished with six points, including Lexi Gordon, Khadija Faye, Bryn Gerlich, Daija Powell and Alexis Tucker.
The Lady Raiders opened the game strong defensively, holding Baylor without a bucket for the first two-and-a-half minutes of the game; however, Tech had a difficult time scoring in the opening frame, as Baylor ended the first period on a 16-0 run to lead 18-3 after the first 10 minutes.
Led by five points from Gray and four points from Faye in the second quarter, Tech gained a little bit of a rhythm offensively in the second.
After Baylor increased it's lead with a run in the third, Tech found success in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bears, 23-16, in the frame and ended the game on a 12-2 run. Seven different Lady Raiders scored in the fourth quarter, led by Powell who scored six.
The Lady Raiders will look to get back on track on Saturday when they host Oklahoma State at United Supermarkets Arena at 3 p.m.
