IRVING, Texas – Ahead of the 2022 volleyball season, Karrington Jones and Kenna Sauer have been named to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team, the league announced Wednesday.

The Red Raiders joined Baylor, Kansas and Texas with multiple selections on the preseason team.

Sauer was a unanimous selection following a breakout 2021 season in which the Missouri transfer led Tech in kills (364), kills per set (3.34), points (424.5), points per set (3.89), total attempts (1,167) and service aces (24). She earned AVCA Southwest All-Region and All-Big 12 First Team honors, finishing in the top 10 in the Big 12 in kills and points, twice earning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week. The Ankeny, Iowa native was the only Big 12 player to record 30 kills in a match last season as she reached the mark in four sets against Sam Houston, the second most in program history in a four-set match.

Jones returns for her super-senior season with the Red Raiders after a career year in 2021 where she garnered All-Big 12 Second Team accolades, the first All-Conference honor of her career. The middle blocker ranked fourth in the Big 12 in hitting percentage (.358), a career-best mark and top 60 in NCAA Division I. Her 221 kills (2.64 k/s) were third most on the squad while her 90 blocks ranked second for the Red Raiders. Jones recorded career highs in kills, hitting percentage, assists, service aces, digs and points.

The Red Raiders will host North Texas Aug. 18 at 4:00 p.m. for an exhibition match with the Red & Black Scrimmage scheduled for Aug. 20 at 6:00 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena. First serve of the 2022 season is slated for Aug. 26 in South Bend, Indiana at Notre Dame.
