TUCSON, Ariz. – Texas Tech's Hudson White was named to the 2022 Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American team, powered by Diamond Sports, the organization announced on Wednesday.
White's honor continues the success under head coach Tim Tadlock as the Red Raiders have had a Freshman All-American by at least one publication in each of his 10 seasons at the helm.
White was one of the individuals that highlighted the annual Big 12 baseball awards for Texas Tech last month when he was honored as the league's freshman of the year. He became the sixth Texas Tech freshman to earn the honor and the third since 2017 joining Josh Jung (2017) and Gabe Holt (2018).
He was also one of seven unanimous selections for the Big 12 all-freshman team.
White was one of six Red Raiders to make 58 or more starts during the 2022 season. He made 39 starts behind the plate and 19 at first base. He hit .260 for the season with six home runs, 11 doubles and 40 RBIs. White got off to a slow start but started to hit his stride during the final game of the Rice series on March 13 when he went 3-for-4 with two doubles. He finished the season with a .299 battings average over the final 45 games and was even more special in Big 12 play as he finished 24 league games with a .337 batting average.
